What we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address - to identify your account and contact you about billing.
• Password - stored securely using one-way encryption. We cannot see your password.

Puzzle activity (subscribers only)

When you complete puzzles while signed in, we record:

• Which puzzle you completed and when.
• Your completion time.

This powers your stats (streak, puzzles solved, puzzles mastered).

Analytics

We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to understand general site usage (page views, visitor counts). Umami does not use cookies, does not collect personal information, and does not track you across sites.

Local storage

If you’re not signed in, your puzzle progress and preferences (like theme) are stored in your browser’s local storage. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us.

Payment information

Payments are processed entirely by Stripe. When you subscribe, your card details go directly to Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

We do store a Stripe customer ID and subscription ID to manage your subscription status. For Stripe’s data practices, see Stripe’s Privacy Policy.

How we use your data

Your data is used to:

• Run your account and manage your subscription.
• Track your puzzle stats and streaks.
• Process payments.
• Understand general site usage (via anonymous analytics).

That’s it. We don’t sell your data. We don’t use it for advertising. We don’t share it with third parties for marketing.

Data storage

Your data is stored on servers located in Western Europe (WEUR). Our database and application run on Cloudflare’s infrastructure in this region.

Data retention

• Account data is kept as long as your account exists.
• Puzzle completion records are kept as long as your account exists.
• If you delete your account, your data will be removed.

Your rights

You can:

• Access your data - ask us what we have on file.
• Delete your account - contact us and we’ll remove your account and associated data.
• Export your data - request a copy of your puzzle completion history.

Cookies

Puzzle Break does not use cookies. Authentication tokens and preferences are stored in your browser’s local storage.

Children

Puzzle Break is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we’ll remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes, we’ll notify you via email or a notice on the site before they take effect.
